15 As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.
16 And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.
John 10:15-16
Main Point: To see God as our shepherd we must be reminded that we are His sheep and follow Him.
Just as a child knows his parents voice from a stranger's voice, we should be able to recognize God’s voice in the midst of noise.
This story reminds us of our role as God’s sheep and God’s role as a shepherd .
To be His sheep and know Him as a shepherd, we must constantly be in communication with him, commune with Him, listen and abide. The role of a shepherd is to care for His sheep, lead his sheep, tend and protect. Any shepherd who buys sheep at an expensive price and knows the value and worth of a sheep, will care deeply for His sheep because He knows their worth and value. God is our shepherd, He protects us and cares for us, because we are His sheep - we are His flock. Sheep listen and are soft-hearted. To become His sheep we must humble ourselves and know that we need a shepherd, and to ultimately trust God’s vision and leadership for our lives.
God wants us to see daily that He is our shepherd. Can you take some time today to reflect on how God has been a shepherd to you?
Deeper Focus:
-Do you see God as your shepherd ?
-How can you become more like God's sheep?
-God speaks to us differently, but his truth remains. How do you recognize God’s voice when He is speaking to you?
