Light leading to life

12 Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I Am The Light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

Main Point: Jesus is The Light of the world and exposes for our good!

Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night, trying to get to the bathroom and halfway there you stub your toe? If you are like me, sometimes you just want to say some words that you don’t want your kids repeating, if you know what I mean. Navigating in darkness even in the most familiar environments just isn't safe.

Jesus calls Himself “The Light of the world”. Jesus is essentially making a claim that the world is dark and has been dark for quite some time. I’m not talking about a literal physical darkness, but rather a spiritual darkness. As a result of this spiritual darkness people are hurting each other and even hurting themselves. It’s painful to walk through this life without light. Light helps us to see clearly what decisions we should make and what things to avoid. With Jesus we can truly live a full and satisfying life. We can avoid a lot of foolish mistakes by trusting Him and following Him.

Don’t we all know people including ourselves that have made some stupid decisions? We have watched as a high price was paid for it? Well, focusing on Jesus and leaning into Him we can avoid a lot of those pitfalls. As a result we can help so many other people do the same. You and I don’t have to walk in darkness because we have The Light of the world with us, Who’s Name is Jesus!

- What kind of pain could we have avoided if we simply trusted Jesus rather than trusting ourselves?

- Is there any area in your life that you know is dark? We all know that usually unhealthy things tend to grow in darkness.

-Today let’s bring some of those dark areas of our lives to The Light of the world. Jesus will not only expose these unhealthy areas, but He can heal, guide and lead us through the light He is.
